Breaking News: Northern India Battling Severe Floods and Landslides Amid Relentless Monsoon | ABP NEWS
Northern India is grappling with the devastating impact of relentless monsoon rains, flash floods, and landslides. In Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district, the Malana River surged after a cloudburst, sweeping away dumpers, cars, and even a JCB machine involved in a hydropower project. The 109 MW run-of-the-river project suffered major damage as equipment was washed away. The flood created chaos, and sirens were sounded to alert locals. In Mandi, a massive boulder fell on homes near the Beas River, destroying two houses. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Heavy rainfall has triggered numerous landslides, blocking highways like the one connecting Chandigarh to Leh. Chamba also saw severe road damage due to weakened mountains and overflowing streams. Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district, the Ganga River’s rising waters have swallowed multiple homes in Chakki Nauranga village, forcing residents to flee. In Punjab's Hoshiarpur, two bikers were swept away while trying to cross a flooded river but were rescued by locals. In Rajasthan’s Dholpur, a pickup truck was dragged away by the Parvati River, with the driver and helper still missing. These tragic incidents highlight the severe toll of monsoon fury across the region, causing loss of property, displacement, and infrastructure collapse.
