Prime Video announces new series 'Raakh' from 'Paatal Lok' co-director; Ali Fazal to star

Prime Video has announced a new investigative series titled Raakh, headlined by Ali Fazal, Sonali Bendre and Aamir Bashir. It is helmed by director Prosit Roy, who is also the executive producer.
Roy, who has directed the Anushka Sharma film Pari, is also known for co-directing the first season of Paatal Lok. Fazal's streaming credits in the long format include Mirzapur while Bendre has appeared in the series The Broken News.
Variety reports that the series is slated for a 2026 premiere. Anusha Nandakumar (“Singham Again”) and Sandeep Saket (“Indian Police Force”) are involved as creators, writers and co-directors, with the backing of EndemolShine India and Gulbadan Talkies. It has dialogues by Ayush Trivedi (“Indian Police Force”).
According to Rishi Negi, group chief operating officer at Banijay Asia and EndemolShine India, the series is a “layered, character-driven story that challenges the boundaries of morality, justice, and consequence.”
“The series reflects the evolving appetite of Indian and global audiences for narratives that are both emotionally complex and genre-forward,” he added. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Prime Video to bring this ambitious, emotionally charged narrative to audiences across the globe.”
Prosit Roy shared that the world of “Raakh” is “deeply immersive" and that it "pushes boundaries while exploring the complex layers of human nature.”
“Anusha and Sandeep have crafted a narrative that delves into the grey areas of morality, justice, and redemption, all while keeping viewers thoroughly engaged,” Roy said. “For me, the series represents a bold step forward in Indian storytelling, blending intense drama with nuanced character studies.”
The series enters Prime Video’s catalogue of originals that include acclaimed shows like “Paatal Lok,” “Panchayat,” “Mirzapur,” “The Family Man,” and “Made in Heaven”.
