New metro route will soon start from Sector-142 to Botanical Garden, which will include 8 stations

Noida Metro News: There is good news for Noida residents. The metro line will be extended from Sector-142 to Botanical Garden. Approval from the central government is expected soon.

Manish Singh, Noida: There is great news for metro commuters in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The proposed 11.56 km long metro line from Sector-142 to Botanical Garden is expected to get approval from the Public Investment Board (PIB) of the Central Government soon.

Dr. Lokesh M, Managing Director of Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC), said that the presentation of this project was given to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in July, and now the approval of PIB is awaited. The opening of this route will establish direct metro connectivity between Noida, Greater Noida and Delhi, which will facilitate thousands of daily commuters.

Extension of Aqua Line: 8 new stations

This new metro corridor will be part of the Aqua Line and will have 8 stations: Botanical Garden, Noida Sector-44, Noida Authority Office (Sector-96), Sector-97, Sector-105, Sector-108, Sector-93, and Panchsheel Balak Inter College. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 2,254.35 crore. The Botanical Garden station will have an interchange facility with the Delhi Metro’s Blue and Magenta lines, allowing passengers to reach IGI Airport (Terminal-1), New Delhi, and Anand Vihar railway stations easily. According to the NMRC, the route will see around 80,000 passengers travelling daily in the initial phase.

Benefits to Noida and Greater Noida

Residents of Sectors 44, 45, 97, 99, 100, 104, 105, 108, and 93 of Noida will be particularly benefitted by this route. Also, Greater Noida commuters will get direct connectivity to Delhi and other major places, reducing travel time and cost. This route will provide direct metro facility to Botanical Garden for Greater Noida residents, thereby easing the traffic in the area.

Metro extension to Bodaki

The NMRC has approved another 2.6 km long metro route from the depot to Bodaki in Greater Noida, estimated to cost Rs 416 crore. This route will have Junpat and Bodaki stations, with a major station to be built at Bodaki. The NMRC will issue tenders for the Detail Design Construction (DDC) survey for this route by next week, based on which the division of construction, track, and power cable works will be done.

Current status and future plans

Currently, Aqua Line is operating from Sector-51 in Noida to Depot Station in Greater Noida. The launch of these two new routes will expand the metro network in Noida and Greater Noida. NMRC aims to start metro projects on two new routes this year. Officials say that construction work will start soon after the survey and tender process is completed, which will lead to socio-economic development of the area and reduce traffic congestion.
