Women empowerment a top priority, says CM

Bhubaneswar: Women’s empowerment remains the top priority of the state government, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said Tuesday. He made the remarks while addressing the Rising Odisha Conclave as chief guest, organised by News18 Odia in association with print media partners OrissaPOST and Dharitri in Bhubaneswar. “Schemes like Subhadra Yojana refl ect our strong commitment.

Within just one year, we have created 17 lakh Lakhpati Didis, ensured Rs 800 additional per quintal under Samruddha Krushak Yojana, and implemented Ayushman Bharat in Odisha,” the CM said. The CM highlighted key achievements, including resolving 14 grievances in 14 months with over 90 per cent success, launching Shishu Batika for early childhood education, and strengthening primary education through the Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya scheme. “In just 14 months, we have come much closer to the people,” he remarked. On industrialisation, Majhi cited the Make in Odisha and Textile Conclaves, reaffirming zero tolerance towards corruption. “Over 28,000 jobs have been given, and recruitment of 85,000 more is underway. Focusing on present-day excellence will lead us towards a Prosperous Odisha,” he added.

Appreciating News18’s role, he noted, “Its extensive coverage and programmes like Asal Katha have gained wide acceptance in every corner of Odisha.” Earlier, Editor Narendra Jena welcomed the gathering. The conclave featured sessions with Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment department Principal Secretary Arabinda Kumar Padhee, and a panel with social media influencers on youth and digital trends.
