Comedian Jaswinder Bhalla died in Mohali at the age of 65. He was admitted to the hospital after suffering a brain stroke. His funeral will take place in Mohali on August 23. Bhalla started his career with Chhankata 88 and acted in Dulla Bhatti. He was also a professor at Punjab Agricultural University and worked to create awareness among farmers.
Jaswinder Bhalla passed away: Veteran Punjabi cinema and comedy star Dr Jaswinder Bhalla (65) passed away. He suffered a brain stroke two days ago and was admitted to a private hospital in Mohali.
He breathed his last at around 4 am on Saturday. His last rites will be performed on August 23 at 1 pm in Balongi village in Mohali.
According to the family, his daughter who had gone to Europe ten days ago is returning to Mohali by this evening after hearing the news of her father’s death, while the son is at home.
From Chhankata to Dulla Bhatti… the journey was memorable
Born on 4 May 1960 in Doraha, Ludhiana, Jaswinder Bhalla started his career with “Chhankata 88” in 1988. After this, he appeared as an actor in the film “Dulla Bhatti”.
Bhalla, who was a professor at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), played a significant role in providing technology and literature to farmers as the brand ambassador of the university. His life was dedicated to the service and awareness of farmers. In March 2022, when he was shifting to his new house in Mohali, a theft incident also took place there.
Artists and leaders expressed grief
His close friend Bal Mukund Sharma said- “This loss can never be compensated. We had a 40-year-old relationship. He gave me the status of a brother.
Comedian Pammi said- “He had distanced himself from films due to heart and sugar diseases. His departure is an irreplaceable loss for the Punjabi industry.”
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed grief and wrote that he is saddened by the end of the Chhankat ki Chhankar. ‘Chacha Chatra’ will always remain in our hearts.
Punjab Congress also issued a condolence message and said that Bhalla ji kept spreading laughter in the lives of people for a long time through his art. He will always live in our hearts.
