Son of legendary director who flopped in films, made his debut with Shah Rukh Khan, now runs Rs 10,000 crore company, he is…
A preconceived notion in the Indian film industry is that when a director or producer launches their kid, they will perform just as well and earn the same name and fame as their parents. However, sometimes this entire ideology fails, and the star kids introduced to cinema do not impress the audience as expected. A similar story happened with an actor whose father was once the biggest and most promising director of Bollywood. The credit for making Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan romantic heroes goes to the same director.
Legendary Director’s Son Who Never Became a Successful Actor
The director in question was someone who painted the town red with love whenever his movies were released. However, contrary to expectations, his son’s films were total flops. We are talking about the late director Yash Chopra and his son Uday Chopra.
Debut With Shah Rukh Khan
Uday made his debut with the film Mohabbatein, made under the banner of the family production house, Yash Raj Films. The movie also featured Shah Rukh Khan.
The film was a blockbuster, and Uday gained recognition, but after that, none of his films worked as an actor. He remained a side actor in the film industry and gradually drifted away from Bollywood. Before entering films, he worked as an assistant director on family banner projects such as Lamhe, Darr, Dil To Pagal Hai, and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
After Mohabbatein, Uday also acted in Dhoom. His character Jay did receive love, but it was not sufficient to establish him as a lead actor.
Following several major flops, Uday decided to quit acting and extended a helping hand in his brother’s company, which has a net worth of Rs 10,000 crore.
