‘Indian special interests trying to interfere...’: Peter Navarro’s fresh attack on X after his post was flagged

US President Donald Trump’s trade adviser Peter Navarro has upped the ante on the social media platform, X, after one of his posts on India buying Russian oil was flagged by a community note.
His fresh tirade came after X head Elon Musk defended the micro-blogging site, saying it was the people who decide the narrative.
Navarro alleged that the “Indian special interests” were trying to interfere in the US domestic dialogue with “lies” about India buying Russian oil.
“Should X present this crap as comments from ‘diverse viewpoints’?,” he asked.
Navarro has been making anti-India rhetoric ever since the India-US relations nosedived last month following Trump’s imposition of a 50 per cent tariff on Indian goods, a move New Delhi termed as “unjustifiable” and “unreasonable”.
On Saturday, he wrote on X that India’s trade with Moscow was “purely to profit/revenues feed Russia war machine”.
However, the post was fact-checked by a community of X users, which pointed out that India’s oil trade with Russia was for energy security, not just profit. It also claimed that the trade had not violated any sanctions.
Navarro dismissed the note as “crap” and accused X owner Elon Musk of letting propaganda into people’s posts.
"That crap note below is just that. Crap. India buys Russia oil solely to profiteer. It didn't buy any before Russia invaded Ukraine. Indian govt spin machine moving high tilt. Stop killing Ukranians. Stop taking American jobs," he said.
Musk, meanwhile, defended X, saying the people decide the narrative on this platform.
“Community Notes corrects everyone, no exceptions. Notes data & code is public source. Grok provides further fact-checking," he said.
