Chhattisgarh beat Chandigarh by six wickets
The boys’ U-19 cricket team of Chandigarh started their Vinoo Mankad Trophy matches on a disheartening note. They faced a six-wicket defeat against Chhattisgarh at Maharana Pratap College Ground, Dehradun.
Batting first, the city batters were bundled out at 149 in 41.3 overs. Yuvraj Singh topped the score chart with 42 runs off 37 balls. Gaganpreet Singh (25) and Akul Bhanot (15) were the other contributors to the total. Vikalp Tiwari was the pick of the bowlers with 3/26, while Rudra Pratap Dehari accounted 3/27.
In reply, Chhattisgarh comfortably chased the target in 32.1 overs as skipper Vikalp Tiwari posted 40 off 45 balls, and Tejas Morey scored 44.
Meanwhile, in Raipur (Chhattisgarh), the opening match of the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy between Chandigarh and Railways was abandoned due to rain.
At the Sector 16 cricket stadium, Mizoram defeated Nagaland by eight wickets in a low-scoring encounter of the same tournament. Batting first, the Nagaland batters were all-out at 37 as Mal Zela claimed 6/21.
In reply, Mizoram comfortably chased down the target in the 13th over losing only two wickets.
At the GMSSS-26 here, Manipur beat Arunachal Pradesh by 61 runs. Batting first, Manipur posted 257/6 with skipper Max (45) leading from the front. In reply, Mohammed Yakib posted 105, but Arunachal Pradesh were bowled out at 196.
In a thrilling contest, Sikkim edged past Meghalaya by three wickets. Meghalaya were restricted to 99, as Parvin took 4/14. Sikkim chased down the modest target by losing seven wickets.
