One dead, five injured in South Delhi wall collapse
A labourer died and five others suffered injuries after a wall collapsed at an under-construction site in Safdarjung Enclave, South Delhi, on Thursday evening.
According to police, the incident occurred around 6:15 pm at B-5 Block, 1A, Safdarjung Enclave.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that construction work for a basement was underway when one of the concrete pillars and the adjoining soil slipped, leading to the collapse.
Several labourers working at the site were buried under the debris.
Police teams along with the fire brigade reached the spot and launched rescue operations.
The deceased has been identified as a 60-year-old resident of Madangir, Delhi.
Four injured workers were pulled out and shifted to Sukhmani Hospital for treatment, while two others, who were critically injured, were taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre.
One of them was declared brought dead, while the other remain under treatment in the red zone.
The injured labourers are aged between 35 and 70 years and hail from Ghazipur (Uttar Pradesh), Dausa (Rajasthan) and Sangam Vihar (Delhi).
Rescue operations have been completed and the site has been secured.
The police said legal action would be taken against those responsible for the incident.
