Himachal Police reforms, modernisation efforts reviewed

Sanjay Gupta, who holds the additional charge of Chief Secretary, today visited the headquarters of the Himachal Police and the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau here to review key reform initiatives and ongoing modernisation efforts. He assured the police of full government support for further strengthening human resources, infrastructure and professional development to make Himachal Pradesh a model of efficient and people-friendly policing.

DGP Ashok Tewari briefed Gupta about major challenges the police force was facing, including difficult terrain, resource constraints and emerging threats such as cybercrime and drug trafficking. He said that the department had adopted a zero tolerance policy in three critical areas of narcotics, corruption and traffic rule violations with the help of technology-driven enforcement and community outreach.

At the State Vigilance headquarters, the acting Chief Secretary reviewed the bureau’s proactive measures for ensuring transparency, accountability and time-bound investigations. He was apprised of proposals to simplify administrative approvals and strengthen data-led vigilance mechanisms.

Gupta appreciated the initiatives and lauded the police for their commitment to citizen-centric, transparent and technology-enabled policing.
