Georgia superintendent indicted over alleged kickback scheme in Illinois school district

Georgia’s DeKalb County Schools superintendent, Devon Horton, has been indicted on 17 federal charges, including wire fraud, embezzlement, and tax evasion, for allegedly running a $280,000 kickback scheme while leading Illinois’ Evanston-Skokie School District. Prosecutors claim Horton and associates used shell companies to defraud taxpayers. He’s suspended with pay pending trial.
