Advocate Pitabas Panda murder case: CISF jawan among 3 detained by Berhampur police

In a significant development in the sensational murder case of senior advocate Pitabas Panda, the Berhampur police have reportedly detained three persons for questioning. Among them is a CISF jawan, raising fresh angles in the ongoing investigation.
While the police have not yet confirmed the exact role of the CISF personnel, sources said the trio is being intensively interrogated to ascertain their involvement in the crime. Officials believe the latest detentions could help unravel the mystery behind the high-profile killing.
On the night of October 6, unidentified assailants shot dead advocate and BJP leader Pitabas Panda at point-blank range near his residence in Berhampur before fleeing the scene.
Police suspect the involvement of criminals from outside the state, though the exact motive behind the killing remains unclear. Investigators are exploring multiple leads, including possible professional or personal enmity.
Earlier yesterday, the son of the slain advocate had appealed to the Odisha government to ensure that his father’s killers receive the death penalty.
Speaking to the media for the first time since the murder, Saurav Panda, during an interaction with OTV, said his father was known for fighting cases of the poor without charging money and had no personal enmities.
