Dacoity plan foiled in Bargarh; 3 arrested in Sohela, weapons seized

A major dacoity plan was foiled after police arrested a three members of a gang at Sohela in Odisha's Bargarh district. A car, along with guns, bullets, and other deadly weapons, have been seized during the operation.
The police had laid a trap at Dhipapada Chhak in Sohela while the gang was allegedly planning to commit a loot. Before the dacoity could be executed, three persons were arrested with firearms, while two others managed to escape. One country-made gun, three bullets, masks, and other sharp weapons have been recovered from their possession.
In the last five to six days, three such cases have come to light, during which seven guns have been seized. So far, a total of 20 criminals have been arrested.
As per reports, police received a tip-off and raided the location in Sohela. The criminals had allegedly procured the firearms from Bihar. It was revealed that they were selling ‘gupchup’ in Bargarh to cover their illegal activities.
Past Incidents of Illegal Trade
Previously, police had arrested some offenders involved in selling cough syrup illegally, which was reportedly smuggled from Kolkata in West Bengal. This series of operations has helped law enforcement identify emerging criminal networks operating under the guise of small trades in the region.
Public Concern Over Law and Order
Though police have managed to make several arrests and seize weapons, Bargarh residents remain on edge as the area is gradually becoming more prone to crimes involving deadly weapons.
