Remembering C. Minakshi, a trailblazing scholar and authority on Pallava history
She was the first woman to receive a doctorate from the University of Madras in 1936. In four years as a professional historian, she published over 30 articles and four books. In 1939, the ASI asked her to study the sculptures at the Vaikuntaperumal Temple in Kancheepuram. This work remains an authoritative reference on Pallava art
