Play on Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee staged

JAMMU, Oct 10: Under the guidance of Brij Mohan Sharma, Principal Secretary, Department of Culture, Samooh Theatre staged a play based on the life and contributions of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, who was arrested during an agitation against the ID card rule in J&K and died as a detainee in Kashmir on June 23, 1953.
The play staged in Reasi highlighted the struggle of Dr. Mukherjee who after resigning from Pt. Nehru’s Cabinet founded Bhartiya Jansangh which later became BJP.
The play was written and directed by Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, an eminent theatre director and playwright of J&K.
Artists who performed in the play were Jagdish Raj Sagar, Soham Kashap, Rohit Rajput, Arun Sharma, Faraht Sheikh, Laxmi, Tanvi Sharma, Rishav Jashibardhan and Arjun Sharma; makeup was done by Dr. Kamal Sharma, set was designed by Shazi Khan, costumes by Anita Chandpuri, music by Krishan Bala while Shallen Mahajan arranged the properties for the play.
Saraf Singh Naag, DDC and Chairman, graced the occasion as chief guest.
Vice Principal GDC Reasi, Ravi Kant Sharma; Prof. Ramesh Atri, HOD Botany; Rakesh Kumar, NCC ANO and Sports Director and Prof. Anju Devi, HOD Sociology, NCC ANO and noted artist Bodh Raj Meania were also present on the occasion.
Prof. Baldev Singh, NCC Programme Officer and HOD Political Science delivered vote of thanks.
