Prof Shakti of AIIMS Jammu named “Healthcare Personality of the Year 2025” by FICCI

JAMMU, Oct 10: Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu, has been conferred with the prestigious “Healthcare Personality of the Year Award 2025” by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).
The honour, one of India’s highest recognitions in the healthcare sector, was presented during the 17th edition of the FICCI Healthcare Excellence Awards 2025, held recently in New Delhi.
Themed “Inspire, Change, Together”, the event celebrated visionary leaders and institutions driving innovation and transformation in India’s healthcare ecosystem. Rajiv Gauba, Member, NITI Aayog and former Cabinet secretary, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Prof Gupta was chosen through a rigorous evaluation process led by an eminent jury chaired by C K Mishra, former Health secretary, and co-chaired by Dr Harsh Mahajan, Chair of FICCI Health Services Committee. The award recognizes Prof Gupta’s visionary leadership, strategic foresight, and unwavering commitment to strengthening India’s health systems.
Hailing from Ari village in Poonch, Prof Gupta is an alumnus of GMC Jammu and AIIMS New Delhi. Beginning his career as an Assistant Surgeon in J&K Health Services, he later joined AIIMS New Delhi as faculty, heading the Department of Hospital Administration. With over 110 publications, 20 book chapters, and mentorship of more than 45 postgraduate and Ph.D scholars, he has led key national and WHO projects on hospital governance and digital health systems.
Under his leadership, AIIMS Jammu completed 43 world-class buildings in record time and secured 7th position in Outlook Magazine’s 2025 ranking of Government medical universities-second only to AIIMS New Delhi.
Dedicating the honour to the AIIMS Jammu team, Prof Gupta said the award reinforces the Institute’s mission to excel in patient care, research, and medical education, advancing India’s vision of “Health for All.”
