New Delhi: Kuldeep Yadav has recently demonstrated his potential in the Indian team. During this year’s Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, fans and experts urged the Indian team management to give him a chance. However, he was not included in the team for the five-match tour of England. Despite this, Kuldeep showed his class in the Asia Cup last month and became the tournament’s highest wicket-taker. He took 17 wickets in seven matches, averaging just 9.29.
Called Jadeja his “Guru”
Ahead of the second Test against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Kuldeep called fellow left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja his “Guru.” In the first Test in Ahmedabad, the duo combined to take eight wickets in two innings, and Jadeja won the Player of the Match award with an unbeaten 104 off 176 balls.
Kuldeep said, “It’s very important to bowl at the right length and be accurate. Jadeja has been my mentor since my tour of England. I consistently bowled at the right length during the Asia Cup and here. When the ball lands at the right length, you feel you’re bowling well. We don’t talk much about cricket with Jadeja, but it’s nice to be around him.”
Differences in Bowling in T20 and Test Cricket
Kuldeep also shared the differences in bowling in T20 and Test cricket. He said that in Test cricket, the plan is to bowl the ball on the rise and get the batsman to drive, while in T20, the ball has to be bowled flat.
“Red-ball playing is completely different from T20. I had ample practice in England, although I couldn’t play a match. In T20, you have to change the trajectory of the ball and can’t give it too much air. But in Test cricket, you have to bowl the ball on the rise and get the batsman to drive.”
