Residents Express Concern Over Soaring Costs

Speaking about the price rise, a local resident of Cuttack said, “We are vegetarians, and the Kartika month has made things even more difficult. All vegetable prices have skyrocketed. Pointed gourd and beans are being sold at around Rs 100, and if the vegetables are fresh, the prices go as high as Rs 110 or Rs 120.”

Vendors Cite Floods And Festive Demand

A vegetable vendor explained, “The prices have gone up mainly due to the recent floods, and the rise is only around Rs 20 compared to usual rates. Brinjals and other vegetables are being sold at around Rs 50. Customers are not too upset as they were already expecting prices to rise during Kartika month.”

Relief Expected After Local Harvest

Traders at Chhatrabazar said that prices are likely to fall gradually once local farmers begin harvesting and their produce reaches the market in the coming days. Until then, consumers will have to cope with the steep rates during the festive season.
