Star India cricketer to review Prithvi Shaw’s on-field clash with Musheer Khan

New Delhi: Star India cricketer Dilip Vengasarkar is set to review the heated spat between Prithvi Shaw and Musheer Khan during the three-day warm-up match between Mumbai and Maharashtra. On Day 1, Shaw got into a tense exchange with Musheer Khan after being dismissed by the off-spinner.

Shaw was caught at deep fine leg after misjudging a sweep shot. He and Musheer got into a heated argument as they were making their way back to the pavilion. When an angry Shaw threw his bat at his former teammates, the situation became more heated. The umpire stepped in right away to calm the situation before it got out of hand.

Following the incident, Dilip Vengsarkar had a chat with both the players at the Mumbai Ranji Team selection committee, according to Mumbai Cricket Association secretary Abhay Hadap.

“There will be a [Mumbai Ranji team] selection committee meeting on Thursday, so we will ask them – the Mumbai captain, coach and the player – about what happened. We will be getting a report [of this incident] during our selection committee meeting, and former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar, who is our Advisor, will speak to them [players],” Mumbai Cricket Association secretary Abhay Hadap told mid-day.

Additionally, Maharashtra Cricket Association official Kamlesh Pisal said that they will investigate the incident as well, emphasizing the importance of maintaining discipline among players.

“I’m still awaiting the report [on the incident]. I will be obtaining detailed information [about the incident] and if something is found, depending on the gravity of the situation and considering the importance of discipline, we will speak to both the players [Shaw and Musheer]. Discipline among players is a very important aspect,” Adv Kamlesh Pisal, secretary of the Maharashtra Cricket Association, told mid-day.
