One held in tehsildar manhandling case

The Kullu police have arrested a youth in connection with the alleged assault on Tehsildar Hari Singh Yadav on the first day of the International Kullu Dasehra Festival on October 2.

The arrested person has been identified as Rahul.

A group of ‘devloos’ (followers of local deities) had confronted the Tehsildar over what they claimed “impure” arrangement at temporary camps set up for deities. Eyewitnesses said tensions escalated after Yadav allegedly entered a deity’s camp temple wearing shoes. A heated exchange followed, during which the Tehsildar was “manhandled” by a crowd. The ‘devloos’ then escorted him to the site to voice their concerns, after which Yadav is said to have apologised for the unintended offence.

An FIR was filed on October 3, naming Rahul and others as accused.
