'Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra' OTT release: When and where will Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer be available on streaming?

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra has broken all the major box office records in Mollywood. On Sunday (October 12), the Kalyani Priyadarshan-starrer went past the Rs 300 crore gross mark, making it the first Malayalam film to achieve this landmark. It also set several benchmarks during its phenomenal run.

 

Call it coincidence or pre-planned but the producers Wayfarer Films have now locked their OTT premiere destination for the film. JioHotstar has bagged the streaming rights of this Dominic Arun-directorial with the movie's premiere slated to happen in the last weekend of October.

 

An official announcement is expected soon from Dulquer Salmaan who has the major stakes in Wayfarer Films. Earlier last month, he had put out a post on social media clarifying that Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra wouldn't be streaming on OTT soon. That was when the film was still in its fourth weekend.

 

In today's era, it is very rare for a film to run past five weeks, let alone six and Lokah Chaper 1: Chandra has managed that with outstanding box office numbers across the board. It is the second Malayalam film to gross Rs 100 crore in Kerala after Mohanlal's Thudarum and became the top grosser in the state in its fifth week.

 

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is also the top Mollywood grosser in India, overtaking Manjummel Boys but the overseas lifetime record stays with Empuraan which collected $16.90 million. Meanwhile, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is set to end its run with collections falling under $14 million, a blockbuster run nevertheless.
