Panipat cops arrest 3 for friend’s murder

With the arrest of three persons, the Panipat police have claimed to solve a murder case within 24 hours here.

The accused reportedly murdered their friend by attacking him with bricks and smashing bottles on his head late on Thursday.

The deceased had been identified as 26-year-old Saddam, a resident of Deshraj Colony.

He was murdered near Parshuram Ram Chowk near his house.

DSP (Traffic) Suresh Saini told the media that those arrested had been identified as Brijpal of Dinanath Colony, Krishan of Billu Colony and Samrat of Rajiv Colony.

The CIA-1 team in-charge SI Sandeep and his team arrested all three accused from near Ayodhya Tower on Bichpadi village road on Friday evening.

During the preliminary investigation, the accused admitted to their involvement in Saddam’s murder. Accused Brijpal said he was working as a contractor in a private factory,

Krishan was also working with him, while Samrat was working in another factory.

As per the accused, they were organising a liquor party near a closed factory on Thursday night when Saddam came there and started abusing them.

Saddam was known to them and used to work in a factory at Hanuman Colony.

When they opposed Saddam, a quarrel broke out. The trio attacked him with bricks and fled the spot.

All three accused were produced in the court on Saturday. They were to one-day police remand, the DSP added.

The DSP said Saddam’s brother Kala, in his statement to the Tehsil Camp police on Friday, has accused Birju, Krishan, Ajay and two others of murdering Saddam. A case was registered on the complaint of Saddam’s brother.
