Sunny Deol announces new film 'Gabru', to release in March 2026

On Sunday on the occasion of his 68th birthday, Sunny Deol announced a new film titled Gabru. The actor shared the poster on his Instagram handle, along with the release date: March 13, 2026.
He captioned it: "Power isnt what you show, its what you do! Thank you everyone for your love and blessings , here’s something for you all who have been waiting. Gabru in cinemas, 13th March 2026. A story of courage, conscience, and compassion. From my heart… to the world!"
Written and directed by Shashank Udapurkar, Babru is produced by Om Chhangani and Vishal Rana. Mithoon is composing the music to the lyrics by Sayeed Quadri.
Deol was last seen in Jaat, co-starring Randeep Hooda and Rejina Cassandra. It was drected by Gopichand Malineni. A sequel, announced in April, is in development.
Deol is also looking forward to Border 2, which is in the middle of production. It features Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh, and is directed by Anurag Singh. The makers have slated it for release on January 23, 2026.
The other upcoming project in Deol's lineup is Lahore 1947, which has Preity Zinta as the female lead, and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Zinta was Deol's co-star in movies such as The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, Dillagi and Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke.
Deol recently had his biggest box office success with Gadar 2, a sequel to his 2001 hit Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. Both films were directed by Anil Sharma, with returning screenwriter Shaktiman Talwar. The sequel, which tapped into the nostalgia factor, saw Ameesha Patel reprising her character from the original.
