Government Holiday Calendar 2026 released, 31 public and 19 optional holidays announced
Public holidays: The Rajasthan Government has announced a timetable for public and optional holidays for the year 2026. According to the calendar released by the General Administration Department, there will be 31 public and 19 optional holidays next year. Employees will be able to choose only two of these 19 optional holidays. There are 12 weeks in which employees will receive three days off each.
Nine holidays have been reduced due to Saturdays and Sundays falling on public holidays for festivals. In addition to these holidays, the Collector will be able to declare two public holidays per year in their district. The Finance Department will release a separate holiday calendar for bank employees. Next year, Holika Dahan will be on March 2nd and Dhulandi on March 3rd, while Diwali will be on November 8th and Govardhan Puja on November 9th.
District Collectors granted exemptions, able to grant two additional holidays
In addition to these holidays, collectors will be able to declare two public holidays per year in their districts. The Finance Department will issue a separate holiday calendar for bank employees.
9 Holidays Reduced
Nine holidays have also been reduced due to festivals: Devnarayan Jayanti on January 25, Shivratri on February 15, Parashuram Jayanti on April 19, Tribal Day on August 9, Ghat Sthapana on October 11, and Diwali on November 8 fall on Sundays. Similarly, Eid al-Fitr on March 21, Jyotiba Phule Jayanti on April 11, and August 15 will be Saturdays.
Holika Dahan on March 2nd next year
According to the calendar, nine festive holidays throughout the year fall on Saturdays and Sundays. Next year’s Diwali and Shivratri will also fall on Sundays. Some major festivals fall on Mondays, such as Holika Dahan on March 2nd, Dhulandi on March 3rd, Ramdev Jayanti and Teja Dashami on September 21st, Durgashtami on October 19th, Diwali on November 8th, and Govardhan Puja on November 9th.
Holiday Package
Next year, there will be 12 weeks in which employees will receive three days off. This means that government offices will be open for four days in each of the 12 weeks. In seven of these weeks, Friday is a public holiday, followed by a weekend holiday. There are also five weeks in which Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will be the holiday.
