WATCH: 'Diesel' producers arrange special Diwali screening for fishermen

It has been a relatively quiet Diwali for the Tamil film industry even with three films releasing. For a festival that has mostly seen at least one superstar film hitting the theatres, 2025 is unique as it has seen three young stars battling it out at the box office. Harish Kalyan's Diesel is arguably the most low-key film of the three.

However, the mass entertainer has gotten a decent start at the box office despite getting a very small release in Tamil Nadu. The collections have shown a reasonable jump although the numbers are still on lower levels. On Monday (Diwali 20), the producers of the film have arranged a special screening for the fishermen and their families in Tamil Nadu.

The show was jam-packed and after the screening, the fishermen community who had arrived to watch the film, were seen having light-hearted conversations with some of the Diesel crew members who were present at the venue. For those unversed, the movie deals with a strong subject that is based on the lives of the fishermen community.

Monday is the Diwali holiday in TN and the State government has also announced Tuesday (October 21) as an extra holiday for Diwali. This means an extended five-day weekend for the Diwali releases and Diesel will hope to maximise this period. The Harish Kalyan-starrer has high costs involved for a film of this capacity largely due to being delayed by more than two years.
