He was 84 years old. His funeral was held at the Santacruz crematorium, attended by numerous Bollywood celebrities. Asrani will always be remembered for his roles in films like “Sole,” “Khatta Meetha,” and “Chupke Chupke.” Born in Jaipur on January 1, 1941, Asrani began his Bollywood career in the 1960s.
He appeared in over 350 films. His role as “the British-era jailer” in “Sholay” continues to make audiences laugh even today. Just hours before his death, he had wished his fans a Happy Diwali 2025 on social media.

The credit for this dialogue goes to the famous comedian Asrani, who immortalized this dialogue by imitating Adolf Hitler in his own unique style. He is known for his comic roles in films like Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar, Prem Nagar, Chupke Chupke, Chhoti Si Baat, Rafoo Chakkar, Balika Vadhu, Fakira, and Pati Patni Aur Woh.
However, he became most popular for his role as the jailer in Sholay. He also played supporting roles in several films. He appeared as the lead actor in the 1977 film “Chala Murari Hero Banne” and the 1979 film “Salaam Memsaab,” both of which were directed by him. Asrani recently appeared in the comedy reality series “The Kapil Sharma Show” alongside Shakti Kapoor, Paintal, and Tiku Talsania.
