Why is gold falling?
Anant Padmanabhan, founder member and former chairman of the All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC), speaking to news agency ANI, expected gold prices to reach a record high of ₹1.50 lakh per 10 grams in the coming months. This is because gold prices could see a sharp rise due to purchases by central banks in the global and domestic markets and strong public demand, especially in China and Japan. He believes that if trade talks between China and the US fail and the Russia-Ukraine war continues, gold could reach ₹1.50 lakh in the coming months. Padmanabhan also expects a short-term correction, potentially leading to a temporary decline to ₹1.15 lakh. Consequently, gold prices have softened due to profit-booking.
