Hard-won RTI gains are at risk as privacy legislation tilts the balance against demands of democracy

Two decades after its enactment, India’s ‘sunshine law’ that encodes the Right to Information is losing its power to hold state authorities to account. Democratic principles mustn’t be clouded by stealthy legislative changes in the name of privacy.
