Mukesh Ambani Vs Tata: Reliance Retail, Tata Group set to enter quick commerce sector, Vijay Sales, Sangeetha Mobiles also likely to…

New Delhi: The quick commerce in the electronics sector is witnessing a massive popularity. Big players like Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Retail and the Tata Group are entering this segment. According to the reports, both companies plan to roll out this service across the country, setting the stage for a major showdown between the two giants.

It is also important to note that companies like Vijay Sales and Sangeetha Mobiles are also offering this service in markets where they have an offline presence. Although the focus is currently on “grab-and-go” items like smartphones, laptops, headphones, kitchen appliances, fans, and water heaters. As per these companies, due to the high purchase value of electronics and changing consumer behavior, this category could eventually surpass grocery — which is currently the largest in the quick commerce space.

Here are some of the key details:

  • Reliance Retail has listed all its electronic grab-and-go products available in stores on its online platform JioMart.
  • These products are being offered under the quick commerce segment with delivery in under 30 minutes.
  • The country’s largest retailer has launched this service in the top 10 cities across India.
  • Reliance Retail has made the entire grab-and-go assortment available for delivery within 30 minutes at its big-box electronic stores.

Tata Group, on the other hand, has integrated its electronic retail chain, Croma, with its quick commerce venture, BigBasket, in Bengaluru. According to the reports, this will soon be launched in other cities as well. Although the company earlier sold large appliances, demand remained low; hence, the focus of its quick commerce operations will now be on smaller electronic items.

BigBasket also became an Apple reseller last month and will sell all Apple products with a 10-minute delivery promise. According to Croma, the partnership with BigBasket has yielded positive results in delivering electronic items.
