'The Pet Detective' worldwide box office collection: Sharafudheen-starrer continues steady run in Diwali week

Sharafudheen's maiden production venture The Pet Detective is off to a steady start in its opening week at the box office. Amidst heavy competition from Kantara: Chapter 1 and Dude, the action-comedy film is doing impressive business across Kerala during the extended five-day Diwali weekend.
Released on October 16, The Pet Detective has grossed Rs 4.92 crore in its five-day Diwali weekend with the collections showing an upward trend with each passing day. In fact, October 18-20 saw collections of above Rs 1 crore gross daily at the Kerala box office. The collections from outside Kerala and overseas has also been steady.
The five-day extended Diwali weekend has seen a worldwide gross of Rs 8.25 crore for The Pet Detective. Strong word-of-mouth has made the film the no.1 choice in Kerala alongside Kantara: Chapter 1. Apart from Sharafudheen, the film features Vijayaraghavan, Anupama Parameswaran, Vinay Fort and Vinayakan in key roles.
The Pet Detective is co-produced by Gokulam Gopalan's Sree Gokulam Movies along with Sharafudheen's own banner Sharafudheen Productions. The film was initially slated to release on October 10 but was then postponed by a week. Monday (October 20) was the biggest day at the box office for The Pet Detective as it grossed Rs 1.22 crore in Kerala, making full use of the Diwali holiday in the state.
The film is showing remarkable trends at the box office and should collect steadily over this week and the second weekend. It will need another solid week's run to emerge a success and for now, that mission seems on track.
