Karnataka rains: Orange alert in 7 districts; moderate showers expected in Bengaluru

An orange alert has been issued for seven districts in Karnataka for Wednesday as heavy rains are expected in these districts. 

Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar and Hassan are under orange alert, while a yellow alert has been sounded for the remaining 24 districts in the state.

Fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea as heavy winds are predicted in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.

According to the Indian  Meteorological Department (IMD) , the state is expected to witness rains for the next 10 days. 

Moderate rains and winds are expected in Bengaluru on Wednesday, while light showers are expected in Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Davangere, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara and Tumakuru.

"Light to moderate rainfall/thunderstorm at many/some places with isolated heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka during 21st-24th; Kerala, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema during 21st-27th; North Interior Karnataka on 23r dand 24th; Telangana during 23rd-25th with very heavy rainfall over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema during 21st-23rd; South Interior Karnataka on 21st and 22nd, Tamil Nadu on 23rd, Kerala on 21st and 23rd and Coastal Karnataka on 22nd  and 23rd October," a release from IMD read.
