Karikku fans go gaga as team announces first Malayalam movie after long hiatus from YouTube

The Karikku team, which has enthralled fans through their YouTube webseries and shortfilms since 2018, has announced their first Malayalam movie.

The film, which will be directed by Nikhil Prasad, will be produced by Karikku Studios in collaboration with Dr Ananthu Productions. The team said the movie title and other details of the film will be revealed soon.

The shooting is expected to begin in December and is expected to hit theatres in 2026.

"With immense joy and gratitude, we’re happy to announce the launch of our first movie," Karikku Fresh posted on their Instagram page.

"This movie will be produced by Dr. ANANTHU ENTERTAINMENTS, in collaboration with KARIKKU STUDIOS, marking Production No. 2 for them and Production No. 1 for us. Stay tuned for more updates!" it added.

This was a welcome surprise for fans who have been disappointed over lack of new outings from their favourite Malayalam content creators.

One of the fans said, "Even when everyone complained that 'not posting videos, not posting', I had a strong gut feeling that they were busy with something big like this."

"This is going to be lit. It will be a historical event," said another fan, posting fire emojis. Yet another one said, "Karikku is back on track."

Some wished all the best for the team while others said they are "eagerly waiting".

Popular faces from shows like Thera Para, inclduing Anand Mathews, Anu K Aniyan, Arjun Rathan, Binoy John, Jeevan Stephen, Kiran Viyat, Krishna Chandran, Shabarish Sajjin, and Unni Mathews, will be part of the cast.
