Green Nagar Kirtan held to commemorate Gurpurab in Sultanpur Lodhi, 5,600 saplings distributed

A Green Nagar Kirtan was held in Sultanpur Lodhi, Kapurthala, on Sunday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, which will be celebrated on November 5.

Rajya Sabha MP Balbir Singh Seechewal, an environmentalist, attended the procession and distributed plants to the attendees. Seechewal issued a directive calling for actions to ensure that Punjab’s environment is made green.

A total of 5,600 saplings were distributed as part of the Nagar Kirtan. The procession was distinguished by the distribution of plants instead of the usual ‘prasad’. Plants were given away throughout the procession and later distributed among the congregation.

The Green Nagar Kirtan began at Ahli Khurd before reaching Sultanpur Lodhi. The procession travelled through the flood-affected villages of the Mand area. While these villages had experienced significant destruction in the recent floods, wheat-sowing has now commenced in the region.
