Four Punjab youths held with 62 g heroin in Kasauli
Those arrested were identified as Virender Singh (26), a Jalandhar resident, and Lakhwinder (21), Kunal (25) and Kithu Matoo (20), all residents of Ludhiana.
SP, Solan Gaurav Singh said that the SIU team, while patrolling the Kasauli area and its vicinity for the prevention of crime, seized 62.13 grams of heroin from a car and arrested four persons travelling in it. A case under Section 21 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against them at the Kasauli police station.
During investigation, the police found that the accused were in the process of supplying the contraband to the youths and students of Kasauli, Dharampur and nearby areas. Barring Virender, the other three youths were involved in various cases of fighting registered in various police stations of Ludhiana. Their antecedents are being investigated.
“We have adopted a zero tolerance policy towards drug peddlers and we are committed to eradicating the drug menace from society,” said the SP.
