CII J&K launches ‘Startup Spark 1.0’ to boost entrepreneurship in UT

JAMMU, Nov 4: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) J&K Chapter today launched its new initiative, “Startup Spark 1.0”, at Hotel Radisson, Jammu, to strengthen the startup ecosystem and promote entrepreneurship in the Union Territory.
The event brought together aspiring entrepreneurs, policymakers, academic incubators, and successful business founders on a common platform.
The inaugural session began with a welcome address by Shivang Mahajan, Convener of CII J&K Startup Panel, who stressed the need for a dedicated platform to encourage innovation.
Dr M A Alim, Chairman, CII J&K UT Council, in his special address, reaffirmed CII’s commitment to supporting industrial and entrepreneurial growth in the region.
Dr Vivek Sharma, Chief Innovation Officer at IIM Jammu, spoke about the role of academic institutions in nurturing innovation and helping startups grow.
The chief guest, Arun Kumar Manhas, Director of Industries & Commerce, Jammu, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the Government’s support through the J&K Startup Policy 2024-2027. He also felicitated four outstanding startups from J&K for their achievements.
A panel discussion on “Opportunities and Handholding for Startups” was held, featuring experts from IIT Jammu, JKEDI, IIM Jammu, SKUAST-J, and successful entrepreneurs.
The speakers shared insights on innovation, incubation, Government schemes, and real-world startup experiences.
