BJP's Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were leading from Tarapur and Lakhisarai respectively.
After nine rounds, Vijay Kumar Sinha was leading Mahagatbandhan's Amaresh Kumar by 10,852 votes. While the Deputy CM has bagged 32,950 votes, the Congressman has 22,098. After 12 rounds, Samrat Choudhary's lead has reached 14,131 votes, the Election Commission website said. RJD's Arun Kumar has only 35,847 votes against the BJP leader's tally of 49,978.
Tarapur is a key seat in Munger district of Bihar, falling under the Jamui Lok Sabha constituency. This region holds significant importance in Bihar politics, particularly due to its strong caste composition. The Kushwaha community, the second-largest OBC community in the state, has the highest influence here, Hindi media reports said. Samrat Chaudhary's father Shakuni Chaudhary, and his mother, Parvati Devi, have both represented Tarapur in the past. Shakuni Chaudhary had won from here six consecutive times from 1985 to 2005.
Landslide win for NDA in Bihar
Nitish Kumar-led NDA appeared to register a landslide victory in Bihar, opening up impressive leads in more than 180 of the state's 243 assembly seats, with early trends also indicating that the saffron party was on track to post its biggest tally with an excellent strike rate. According to trends available on the Election Commission's website by noon, the BJP was set to emerge as the single-largest party with a lead in more than 80 assembly seats out of 101 it contested, a performance that would further cement its position as the numero uno political force in the country, offsetting whatever setback that might have been caused by last year's Lok Sabha polls.
As the NDA appeared to register a landslide victory in Bihar on Friday, Patna's skyline saw a visual grammar of its own -- bold, swaggering and unmistakably centered on one man: Nitish Kumar.
