RR Manager Reveals Dhoni & Kohli’s Special Words For 14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi
The youngest player of the Indian Premier League (IPL) history, Vaibhav Suryavanshi broke the internet after smashing the century on 35 balls against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Monday and became the youngest and the fastest Indian to score a century in the IPL.
RR team manager Romi Bhinder revealed details about a special moment involving 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. After his sensational hundred, Bhinder reveald that Vaibhav had a memorable chat with MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli prior to the match. Speaking to Sports Today, Bhinder recalled how the youngster met CSK captain Dhoni during RR’s clash against Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati earlier in the tournament.
"Yes, he met Dhoni the last game we played in Guwahati. So he met Mahi. He will again meet him in our reverse fixture against CSK. But I can see similar traits in both men. Both are calm and cool, but still play aggressive cricketing shots. So there are a few similarities."
"MS Dhoni also praised him a lot, he said 'ok, you got the baby in your team. The baby is showing the great shots like a matured player," said Bhinder.
Bhinder also mentioned that Virat Kohli shared some valuable tips with Vaibhav, advising him to stay grounded and keep working hard.
"Vaibhav likes Virat Kohli a lot. They met and shared a couple of tips. Virat also told him that how to be grounded and how to stay humble and work hard," said Bhinder.
The entire crowd at Sawai Mansingh Stadium celebrated the youngster’s century. RR head coach, who is currently recovering from an injury and operating via wheelchair, momentarily forgot his pain, stood up to applaud Vaibhav’s knock, and gave him a warm hug when he got out.
RR’s hopes of qualifying for the playoffs remain alive after defeating GT. Despite GT posting a formidable total of 209/4, RR chased down the target comfortably, thanks to Vaibhav’s exceptional innings of 101 runs off just 38 balls and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s fiery 70 off 40 balls.
