New Railway Track: Indian Railways is going to complete another milestone soon. After laying the railway line from Katra to Kashmir, now the railway is moving towards completing another big project in the mountains. Many difficulties were faced in laying this railway line between the mountains, but the railway has overcome all the difficulties and completed many stages. 125 kilometers of this 230-kilometer long railway track has been very difficult, because 105 kilometers of it passes through the tunnel.
It is reported that the doors of Kedarnath will open from May 2 and Badrinath on May 4. Along with this, the Chardham Yatra will also start. Right now it is considered a very difficult task to complete this journey. The distance from Rishikesh to Kedarnath is currently 229 kilometers and this distance can be covered only by bus or difficult road. At present, it takes about 8 to 10 hours to cover this distance. After the completion of this railway project, it will take only 3 to 4 hours to cover this distance.
Where is the track being built from Rishikesh?
Railways is building this entire track of 351 km. This entire track has been divided into 4 parts. The first is the 131 km long railway track from Rishikesh to Maneri Gangotri. After this, the second track from Maneri to Yamunotri will be 46 km long. The third track will be 99 km long from Karnaprayag to Sonprayag and its fourth track will be 75 km long from Salkot to Joshimath. In this way, Railways will complete this entire track by combining it into 4 parts to make it 351 km long.
Train will cross 17 tunnels
Railways will also build a total of 17 tunnels on the way from Rishikesh to Chardham and its work has also been completed to a large extent. 27 stations will be built on this entire track and more than 35 bridges will also be constructed. Out of these, 10 stations will be built inside the tunnel and out of the 12 stations to be built till Karnaprayag, only 2 will be built above the ground. Out of the 125 km rail line till Karnaprayag, 105 km will be a tunnel i.e. underground.
How big is the project
Railways is going to spend about 74 thousand crores on this project. 70 percent of the work has been completed. Railways believes that after the completion of this project, one can reach Karnaprayag from Rishikesh in just 4 hours and Joshimath in 6 hours. From where the distance to Kedarnath will be reduced considerably. Along with this project of Railways, a ropeway is also being built to Kedarnath.
