SAD, BJP slam AAP over ad spendings, taking ‘false’ credit for Central projects

Even as the date for the bypoll of Ludhiana (West) constituency is yet to be announced, the political scene has started to hot up. On one side the SAD has raised a question over huge expenditure by AAP candidate on advertisements, the BJP leadership on the other hand today held a press conference on the same issue, alleging that the advertisements given in various sections of media highlighted false claims made by AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora about the projects initiated by the Central Government.

The SAD candidate from Ludhiana (West) Paropkar Singh Ghuman said that this wasn’t just another election, it was Ludhiana (West) vs the corporate money game. “These days, if you walk through the lanes of Ludhiana (West), you can see huge posters, fancy hoardings, flashy campaigns and people distributing freebies. Has anyone thought why is so much money being spent in just one constituency? What are they (AAP) trying to cover up?”

“He said, “Sanjeev Arora is backed up by few powerful industrialists and are treating this election like a business deal. They are throwing money left, right and centre, not because they want to serve, but because they want to win at any cost. From expensive advertisements to money being handed from door-to-door, it is clear that AAP candidate is trying to buy influence and not build trust,” alleged Ghuman, whose campaign till now looked lukewarm.

Ghuman added that the party might claim to be from a party of the ‘aam aadmi’, but look closely how many of them are still ‘aam’ (common)? Most of them are now crorepatis, backed by powerful corporate friends. “They don’t believe they can win your trust, so they’re trying to buy your vote,” said Ghuman to the voters of the constituency.

On the other hand, taking dig at the advertisements being given in various sections of media by AAP candidate Sanjeev Arora, BJP senior leader and state spokesperson Anil Sarin said that there should be some limit to the ‘lies’. Showing the claims made by the AAP candidate, Sarin said that all projects for which the candidate was getting the credit were initiated by the Central Government.
