Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Agreement Along LoC Again Despite Warning From India

Despite a stern warning from India, Pakistani forces continue to violate the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control in Kashmir. In a fresh incident on the intervening night of April 30 and May 1, Pakistan Army posts started unprovoked small-arms fire across the Line of Control opposite Kupwara, Uri, and Akhnoor in Jammu & Kashmir

The Indian forces retaliated in defence appropriately, the Army said in a statement.

A warning was issued to Pakistan on Tuesday by India during a hotline conversation between the Director Generals of Military Operations of India and Pakistan to discuss the unprovoked ceasefire violations. Pakistan has been resorting to firing on India since Friday night last week.

The latest violation of the ceasefire agreement was the seventh such instance on consecutive days/nights. 

The ceasefire violations come at a time when the relations between the two nations are already at a low over the Pakistan-sponsored terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.

When Was Cease-Fire Agreement Signed Between India And Pakistan?

India and Pakistan in February 2021 said that they would cease firing across the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir to reduce border tensions. This was a recommitment to a 2003 ceasefire agreement.

Pakistan is, meanwhile, concerned over India's retaliatory move, following the April 22 Pahalgam Attack. PM Narendra Modi has assured that the terrorists responsible for the attack would be identified, tracked, and meted out severe punishment even if it means hounding them to the end of the earth.
