Pakistan Deploys Jammers To Block Indian Aircraft From Entering Its Airspace: Sources

Days after closing its airspace for India, Pakistan has now installed jammers to prevent Indian aircraft from entering its airspace.

According to sources, Pakistan has also increased the deployment of Chinese-made anti-aircraft missile systems amid incidents of firing along the Line of Control (LoC) as tensions continue to rise between the two countries following the Pahalgam terror attack.

The move comes after India shut its airspace for all Pakistani-operated flights effective from April 30 to May 23. During this time period, no Pakistani aircraft will be permitted to enter the Indian airspace. 

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) on Wednesday issued a NOTAM (Notice to Air Mission) and closed its airspace for Pakistan-registered operated, or leased aircraft, airlines, and military flights.

This decision by India was taken after Pakistan shut its airspace to all flights owned and operated by all Indian carriers, following the terror attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists.

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS),  chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, met on Wednesday to discuss the security situation in the country and the future course of action in the aftermath of the April 22 attack.

This was the second time that the top decision-making body on national security was convened at the Prime Minister's residence within days of the attack. The CCS comprises Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Pakistan Warns Of Strong Response 

Pakistan on Wednesday reiterated that it has nothing to do with the Pahalgam terror attack and warned of a strong response if provoked as tensions with India continued to escalate.

Addressing a press conference alongside Army spokesman Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry and Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, Dar demanded an independent and transparent probe by neutral investigators in the Pahalgam attack, news agency PTI reported.

The press conference was held hours after Pakistan's Information Minister Attaullah Tarar claimed a possible military action by India in 24-36 hours.
