Samsung Brings Gemini AI Shortcut To Galaxy A Series: Just Press The Side Button

Samsung is bringing a fan-favourite feature from its premium S series to more budget-conscious users. Starting early May, select Galaxy A series smartphones will allow users to launch Google’s Gemini AI assistant simply by pressing and holding the side button — marking a new phase in Samsung’s bid to make mobile AI more accessible.

AI at Your Fingertips

Previously exclusive to flagship models, the side button shortcut for activating Google’s AI assistant will soon be available on Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G. This update is part of Samsung’s broader effort to expand "Awesome Intelligence" — its suite of AI-powered tools — to a wider user base.

The goal is simple: give users faster, smarter, and more natural access to AI support in their day-to-day routines. Whether it’s checking calendars, finding restaurants, or even getting gift suggestions, Gemini can now be summoned with just a long press.

Smarter Multitasking, Made Simple

One of the key advantages of this update is seamless multitasking across apps. Gemini can now help users do things like find a restaurant on Google Maps and immediately send the location to a friend on Messages — all in one go. The AI assistant works across Samsung’s native apps, Google services, and even select third-party platforms, turning voice commands into real productivity boosts.

“Find French, pet-friendly restaurants with terrace seating nearby.” That’s all it takes. A simple voice command to Gemini, and within seconds, users can get suggestions, pick a spot, and share it — no typing, no toggling between apps.

The update begins rolling out globally in early May, bringing intuitive AI access to millions more Galaxy users.
