Retro X Review: Suriya & Pooja Hegde's Film Receives Mixed Reactions - Fans Praise Performances, Others Call It 'Boring'

Tamil actor Suriya's Retro hit the big screens on Thursday (May 1) and those who have watched the early morning shows of the film have flooded social media platforms with their reviews. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the film also stars Pooja Hegde in the lead role. It is receiving mixed reviews from film critics as well as the audience.

While fans of Suriya have praised the film, a section of users on X (formerly known as Twitter), called Retro 'boring', especially its first half.

A user urged people not to watch the film in theatres as, according to him, it would be a 'waste' of time and money. Other have praised Suriya's performance and the 15-minute dance-action song Kanimaa, which has been shot in a single take.

The final advance bookings for Retro kicked off on a high note, registering an impressive Rs 7.75 crore in Tamil Nadu alone. In neighbouring states like Kerala and Karnataka, the film has already crossed Rs 1 crore in pre-sales and is expected to witness a further rise in the coming days.

Besides Suriya and Pooja, the film also stars Jayaram, Nassar, Joju George, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, Karunakaran and others.
