'Meri Teen Jagah Hernia Thi': Suyash Sharma Thanks RCB For Life Changing London Surgery To Revive Career; Video
For Suyash Sharma, the path to the Indian Premier League wasn’t just about performance, it was about absorbing the pain, uncertainty, and a fight to simply stay fit. The young spinner, who now plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), opened up about the physical and emotional struggles he faced and how the franchise played a key role in bringing him back to full fitness.
Suyash’s battle started long before he donned the RCB jersey. For nearly two years, he was playing through intense discomfort caused by an undiagnosed hernia. Despite repeated medical consultations in India, doctors were unable to pinpoint the issue. Speaking to RCB Channel, he said, "Till 2 years ago, I used to play after taking injections. In India, they were not able to figure out what the problem was," Suyash revealed.
When RCB brought him into the fold, the franchise didn’t just focus on what he could bring on the field, they invested in his long-term health. Realising the seriousness of his condition, RCB flew him to London for surgery, a gesture that changed the trajectory of his career and life.
He added, "Then RCB sent me to London for my surgery and there my James Piepy and his family treated me like family. I had hernia in three places. I am telling the truth. I did not even expect that I would play the first match. I was told that I will play after three-four matches because my surgery was a very big surgery."
"But Piepy and his family took so much care of me and I am very thankful that I have come to this franchise. I became completely fit. Otherwise for the last two years I was going through this thing that I had to play in pain. I had become used to it."
Suyash Sharma on playing for RCB
Suryash Sharma has picked up 4 wickets in matches so far but his admission into the RCB squad was itself a moment of joy but not one he saw coming.
He said, "I was very happy when I got selected for RCB. To be very honest, I knew about RCB that I could get a lot of chances from here. I am telling the truth, I did not even expect that I would play in the first match."
