Campus notes: Workshop on cybersecurity
To promote digital safety and enhance practical cybersecurity skills, the ICT section of the Central University of Haryana (CUH) organised a Cyber Awareness Session and Hands-On Cybersecurity Workshop for students, research scholars and other stakeholders of the university. The event commenced with a welcome address by Anant Rajee Bara, assistant professor. The Cybersecurity Threat and Awareness Session was led by experts from RootxCon Foundation, including Vikas Kumar and Aashish Kumar. They addressed a range of real-world cyber threats, including digital arrests, deep-fakes, fraudulent gaming apps, cryptocurrency and investment scams, sextortion and QR code-based frauds. The session aimed to educate participants on recognising and responding to various cyber frauds. Following this, a Hands-On Cybersecurity Workshop was conducted, specifically designed for computer science and IT students. The workshop provided practical exposure to modern cybersecurity challenges and solutions. More than 100 students and faculty members of CUH and Panipat Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panipat, participated. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Rakesh Kumar, who expressed his gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his support.
Workshop on environmental sampling
Mahendragarh: The Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development at the Central University of Haryana (CUH) organised a thought-provoking workshop titled ‘Environmental Sampling: Precision Measurement of Particulate Pollutants’. The event drew enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members and environmental professionals. Prof Pawan Kumar Maurya, Dean of the School of Lifelong Learning and convener of the workshop, welcomed the participants. Prof Pawan Kumar Sharma, Pro Vice-Chancellor, emphasised the growing relevance of environmental monitoring in today’s rapidly urbanising and industrialising world. He highlighted the need for such academic platforms to equip youth with practical, research-based skills in environmental sciences. The keynote address was delivered by Dr Era Upadhyay, associate professor at Amity University, Rajasthan. Dr Upadhyay shared valuable insights on advanced techniques for sampling and precisely measuring particulate pollutants, which are critical for assessing air quality and ensuring public health safety.
Workshop on resume-making
Mahendragarh: The Central University of Haryana (CUH) organised a workshop on Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)-Friendly Resume Building, led by Prof Rajeev Mathur, Director and Dean, Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Indus University, Ahmedabad. Prof Mathur, an academician with over three decades of experience in teaching, research and administration, provided valuable insights tailored for today’s competitive job market. Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, highlighted the university’s commitment to student development, emphasising the importance of such career-focused programmes to prepare students for the professional world. The session focused on building resumes optimised for Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), a crucial step for candidates seeking visibility in recruitment processes. Prof Mathur shared effective techniques for resume structuring, keyword optimisation and aligning resumes with industry standards. The interactive session, enriched with live feedback and examples, focused on the students preparing for internships and job placements. The event was coordinated by Prof Akash Saxena, director of the Training and Placement Cell, along with deputy directors Dr Divya, Dr Suraj Arya and Dr Tarun. Irika Ishani, student coordinator, conducted the event.
Seminar on make-up
Yamunanagar: The beauty and wellness department of Guru Nanak Girls College, Santpura, organised a one-day seminar on make-up and talent and an award show at the college auditorium. Make-up artists Tanmay Agrawal and Manju Sharma conducted a special session in which they taught their signature make-up techniques to the participants. A competition was also held in which salon professionals and beauty enthusiasts showcased their skills, judged by a panel comprising Darashna Gautam and Payal Prasad. Nearly 50 participants took part in the event. In the competition, the first prize was won by Pooja Kamboj from ITI, Yamunanagar; while Siddharth from Khijrabad won the second prize and the third prize was bagged by Aarti Babain from Kurukshetra. College general secretary MS Sawhney, director Dr Varinder Gandhi and officiating principal Narinder Pal Kaur appreciated the efforts of the beauty and wellness department.
