Baisaran Valley: NIA Chief Sadanand Datté visits Baisaran Valley to oversee investigation into terror attack

NIA Chief Sadanand Datté has reached Pahalgam to oversee the ongoing investigation into the recent terrorist attack near Baisaran Valley. ABP News reporter Pratima, who is present at the scene, reports that just a minute ago, the full NIA team, along with equipment, began moving toward Baisaran Valley. Due to active investigation and security reasons, the area beyond the barricades set up by Jammu and Kashmir Police remains restricted to media and civilians. As the NIA intensifies its probe, sources confirm that only limited movement is allowed up to 1 km from the restricted area. The valley is heavily fortified, with a board clearly marking the 7 km trek to Baisaran. Alongside the NIA DG, SSP Sandeep Chaudhary is also part of the team moving up to the valley to reconstruct and understand the sequence of events.Since taking over the investigation on June 13, the NIA has used advanced techniques like 3D mapping and metal detectors to carefully analyze the crime scene. Several local residents, including porters, shopkeepers, and others who operate in the valley, have been repeatedly summoned for questioning to gather every possible detail. One significant update is that the zipline operator—whose video from the day of the attack went viral—has reportedly been given a clean chit. Though he allowed a tourist to use the zipline after hearing gunshots, sources say this action was unintentional and made without understanding the gravity of the situation.Over 400 people were present in the valley on the day of the attack, and the NIA is meticulously verifying every witness statement. Although around 150 individuals were initially questioned and later released, further interrogations continue daily, especially for those who may have observed suspicious activity. As NIA Chief Datté visits the scene, expectations are that key investigative threads—such as how the terrorists infiltrated, who supported them, and how they escaped—will be critically examined. ABP News is attempting to accompany the NIA team as far as permitted and will provide further updates as soon as they become available.
