Cognizant jobs for freshers: In some major good news for job seekers in India’s thriving IT sector, US-based IT services firm Cognizant plans to hire 20,ooo freshers in 2025, the company’s CEO Ravi Kumar S said at a recent presser. “The 20,000 freshers will now shape our pyramid because we are now getting a lot of managed services work. So, that will start to accelerate our headcount. Now that organic growth has come back, it’s a good time to re-baseline the pyramid,” Ravi Kumar said while addressing a press conference after Cognizant announced it Q1 results.

In the Information technology (IT)  sector, the term pyramid structure refers to hiring a larger number of employees with less experience and fewer employees with more experience, resulting in reduced salary bills for the company.

CEO Ravi Kumar S revealed that the freshers will be trained on FlowSource, Cognizant’s internal developer tool that combines human and machine-generated code. “When you’re doing it for the first time and doing it that way, that’s the only way you’ll know how to code,” the CEO said, referring to Cognizant introducing the AI-first approach for freshers.

He said the use of code assist platforms from the very beginning is aimed to drive productivity gains across the development cycle.

Ravi Kumar added that Cognizant will continue its specialised hiring from Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs) for its power programmers and full-stack developer roles, MoneyControl reported.

Talking about the role of artificial intelligence in reshaping delivery structures, Kumar said “Will the pyramid be a pyramid, will it become a diamond, or will it become a cylinder? It all depends on how AI progresses,”.

The CEO also revealed that Cognizant has around 60,000 employees who have spent over 10 years with the company, joining right from college, who form the “core” and the middle management of the company.

Notably, the announcement of Cognizant fresher jobs comes at a time when the US-based firm’s Indian peers, including domestic giants like Narayana Murthy-led Infosys and Tata Group’s Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), have not announced any exact hiring targets for FY26, citing uncertainty in the IT sector.
