Pakistan Army Chief Warns Of ‘Swift’ Retaliation To Any Indian ‘Misadventure’ Days After Pahalgam Attack
Pakistan Army chief Gen Asim Munir on Thursday warned that any misadventure by India will be met with a swift, resolute, and notch-up response. The remarks of Munir come amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack and Islamabad’s apprehension of retaliatory action by New Delhi.
“Let there be no ambiguity: any military misadventure by India will be met with a swift, resolute, and notch-up response,” the army chief was quoted as saying by the state-run news agency Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
“While Pakistan remains committed to regional peace, our preparedness and resolve to safeguard national interests is absolute,” he said while addressing troops at the Tilla Field Firing Ranges (TFFR).
According to news agency PTI, General Munir also visited the TFFR to witness the Exercise Hammer Strike – a high-intensity field training exercise conducted by the Pakistan Army's Mangla Strike Corps, the news agency reported, citing a press release issued by the army's media wing. The exercise, according to the report, was designed to validate combat readiness, battlefield synergy, and the operational integration of cutting-edge weapon systems under near-battlefield conditions.
Pakistan on Wednesday had warned that the next 36 hours would be critical due to the threat of Indian action. However, the US secretary of state called leaders of both countries and urged them to cooperate to defuse the tension.
Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah vowed to hunt down each and every terrorist involved in the Pahalgam attack and said all of them will be made answerable for the heinous act. He asserted that the Narendra Modi government will not spare any terrorist.
The home minister said the Modi government has been pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against terrorists and fighting strongly against those who have been indulging in terror activities in Kashmir since the 1990s.
“If someone thinks they will escape by carrying out such a cowardly attack, they are wrong. This is Narendra Modi's government. We will not spare anyone, he said. Shah said the government's fight against terrorism will continue till the menace is completely wiped out. Do not think that you have won by killing 26 people. Everyone of you will be made answerable,” Shah said.
