Nawanshahr to host marathon today

Under the ‘Yudh Nasheyan Virudh’ campaign initiated to make people aware about the ill-effects of drugs, a grand marathon is being organised by the Nawanshahr district administration on May 2.

This information was given by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Rajiv Verma during a meeting with the officials to review the preparations for the marathon. He said that the marathon will be organised from ITI Ground, Nawanshahr, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh. Besides eminent personalities from the district, officials, employees, students, teachers, sportsmen, panchayat members, youth clubs, volunteers and local residents will participate in large numbers and take a pledge to play a leading role in the fight against drugs and also perform their duty to create awareness about the ill-effects of drugs.

ADC (General) Verma said that the marathon will start from ITI ground in Nawanshahr at 6.30 am and end back at ITI ground after passing through Raja Hospital, Baradari Bagh, Government Rehabilitation Centre and Babasaheb Dr BR Ambedkar Chowk.

He informed that the marathon was to be held earlier on April 25, but it was postponed due to unavoidable reason.
