8 killed as car plunges into ravine in NW Pak

ISLAMABAD, May 2: Eight members of a family were killed when their car fell into a deep ravine in Pakistan’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, media reports said.
The accident occurred on Thursday evening in Kohistan district along the Karakoram Highway, an official of the state-run Rescue 1122, Pakistani media reported.
“The vehicle lost control and plunged into a gorge, killing all eight occupants, including four children,” he said, adding that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the crash, according to Xinhua news.
Rescue personnel and highway patrolling police rushed to the site and shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital, the official said.
Poor road conditions and speeding are common factors in such accidents in the mountainous northern regions of Pakistan. (UNI)
